I’m not proud of it. It’s something I felt I had to do.
It’s one of those heart monitor/stop watch/light up/lap counter/Mayan calendar/who knows what else I’ll never use and can’t find kind of watches. I finally figured out how to re-set it after I changed the battery and it kept asking me for information. Personal information.
First the watch asked for the time. Okay, fair enough: hours, minutes, seconds (really? seconds?). Then it wanted to know the day, the date, year (year?)… Then it started to get personal. Gender, height. Age! Yeah, alright fine, fine. But then it asked for my weight… I’m a tad touchy about my weight lately. It’s gone up a notch in the last few months. Not a lot. I’m over my allotted BMI, sure, but not by much. But enough that I feel I need to “fudge” a little. Even to inanimate objects.
I already lie to the treadmill at the health club. I’ve been going there for a while now, even before the whole heart thing, so we’re old buddies, the treadmill and me. And I know all it wants to do is figure out how many calories I burn as I’m doing my three times a week cardio workout. It’s just doing its job.
So, if I’m lying to my watch and a treadmill could my driver’s license be far behind?
